Nairobi talks declaration to unlock global trade growth

the starThe ongoing UN-backed trade talks in Nairobi have yielded a political declaration that could unlock global development.

The 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development has agreed on the declaration called ‘Nairobi Azimio’, as the meeting enters its fourth day today.

The declaration is to be adopted on Friday.

Amina confident UNCTAD to produce ‘Nairobi Consensus’

capital newsNAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 19 – The 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) President Ambassador Amina Mohamed has assured that there will be a conclusive and balanced trade document to be adopted this Friday.

Mohamed who is Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary says so far there are healthy discussions ongoing and which will ensure increased trade inclusion among all UNCTAD member states.

President Uhuru Kenyatta opens UN trade and development conference

standard digital logoThe President called on the more than 7,000 delegates that will participate in the deliberations to use the occasion to make decisions that will address the skewed trade relations between the developed and least developed countries among other issues. "UNCTAD 14 is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to exchange views on how these milestones have been reached," he said.

This is the second UNCTAD conference to be held in Kenya after the country hosted the same meeting 40 years ago.

UNCTAD kicks off in Nairobi attended by UN Chief

Uhuru officially opens UNCTAD conference

the starPresident Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday officially opened the 14 th Session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD I4) which kicked off at the KICC in Nairobi.

The President called for strengthening of UNCTAD to enable it play a bigger role in bringing global prosperity.

“The huge responsibilities with which we members entrusted UNCTAD in 1964 are more relevant today than before. Let our commitment to this organization therefore grow, rather than diminish,” he said.

Ministry of Economy leads government delegation to UNCTAD 14 in Kenya

zawya logo ENAbu Dhabi, 14 July 2016: The Ministry of Economy has finalized preparations for representing the UAE in the 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) taking place from July 17 to 22, 2016 in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

The Ministry of Economy will lead a government delegation headed by H.E. Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs, and comprising representatives from federal entities including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA), and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED). The upcoming conference will be held under the slogan "From decision to action: Moving towards an inclusive and equitable global economic environment for trade and development."

Global leaders at UNCTAD 14 urged to narrow global inequality

Speaking during the opening ceremony, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon said the global economic slowdown had created need for new policies to make trade more vibrant.

What UNCTAD 14 meeting portends for hosts Kenya
